Wow, what an Asshole

Just got back from another job interview. Key word there being [another].

It's amazing how many jobs I apply for, and keep getting called back for more and more interviews where the number of contestants for the vacancy have shrunk to about 2-5. It'll be down to me and 2 or 3 others, and it's almost guaranteed one of them will get the job instead of me.

You might call that Bad luck- I know that myself, my friends and my family all agree it's pretty bad luck. It must be, to happen to me maybe 2 dozen times over the last 2 years. I'm lucky to get that many interviews and call-backs, just unlucky enough to not be the successful candidate. Every time. :P

Ok, about today's interview-
I had 4 interviewers, 2 who I had met in interviews before. Today's interview comes after 2 successful interviews and an evaluation day. Out of the 4 of them, I got on quite nicely with 3, which you might agree is great! Sadly, the 4th interviewer, was an asshole. While trying to explain the gap in full-time jobs (I've held a couple of part-time jobs, thank goodness), I may have mentioned the term "bad luck" a couple of times, possibily an interview no-no, but oh well. Then Mr Bigshot here openly accuses me, mid-interview, that I'm actually very lazy and must be lying about the number of interviews I've been for. The other 3 look at him shocked, as did I, but what can you do?

It's hard to disagree with the BOSS afterall. That's right, the Mr Bigshot was quite literally, The Bigshot, who could do/say what he wants simply because he owns the company. I had alot of sympathy from the other 3 after that, but I can tell the asshole doesn't like me. Fine by me, I really don't like him. If I don't get the job now, fuck it, I won't mind, I don't exactly want to work for him any more anyway. I'll know in a week's time if I've got the job or not.

What are the odds now, that I'll actually get the job? FML

This is a classic technique. I do interviews all the time. The panel, the asshole etc. It's to see how you react under pressure and think on your feet.

This helps weed out bad seeds, especially if it is a union housed job.
If I can offer any advice, it's just to act confident. Say something rather than sitting silent. Even if what you say may not be correct.
They would rather have someone to react and possibly be wrong, than do nothing at all.

Best of luck man.
